The official language in civil proceedings in Estonia is the Estonian language.

This means that the Estonian language will be used in the trial. All court documents, including protocols of hearings and judgment will also be prepared in Estonian. Your submissions and evidence to the court must also be in Estonian or translated into Estonian.

If you do not speak or understand Estonian sufficiently, you can ask the court for an interpreter. The interpreter must help you to participate in court proceedings and to familiarize yourself with the case materials.
